In Development

Private family photo sharing designed around trust, small groups, and simple sharing.

Problem

Families who want to share photos of their kids get a bad trade. Social platforms bring an audience, a feed, and a business model built on attention and data. Group chats are private-ish but chaotic: photos arrive compressed, out of order, and effectively lost within a week. Neither is designed for a small circle of people who already trust each other.

What it does

Playdate.pics is private family photo sharing built around trust, small groups, and simple sharing. The shape is deliberate: a small circle sees the photos, nothing is public by default, and there are no engagement mechanics — no likes to chase, no algorithmic feed, no strangers.

Why it matters

For families, photo sharing is a trust problem before it is a technology problem. Designing for the small-group case directly — instead of scaling a social network down — produces a much calmer product. It is also the lab’s clearest example of building from family systems rather than from a market map.
